Nearly three years ago God placed a vision in my heart to begin an Outreach Ministry for students in our area and a desire to provide an alternative to what the world has to offer. Today that dream has become a reality.
"The Refuge" is a Non-Profit outreach ministry with the intent to share the Gospel of God's grace with High School and College students, while providing a place for them to fellowship and grow. It is not our desire to be a substitute for the local church, but rather to be a threshold to the local church. We strongly believe it is imperative that students get plugged in to a local body of believers in order to be all God has created them to be. The Refuge is committed to discipleship and we know that church involvement is essential for following Christ throughout one's lifetime.
The Refuge is open five days a week closing on Sundays and Wednesdays. A message will be delivered for High School students on Mondays (Monday Night Message) and College students on Thursdays (Thirsty Thursday). There also will be numerous opportunities provided for them to serve and share their faith in the community, country and around the world. We will equip and encourage students to follow Christ on a day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute basis.
The Refuge is seeking financial support from local churches as well as our community. Rather it be a onetime gift, a weekly or monthly gift, any contribution would be greatly appreciated. As many of you well know, start up costs combined with the cost of monthly utilities and rent can add up quickly. Our building has been currently remodeled, we have received 501 (c) (3) status and opened May 30th, 2009. After prayerful consideration should you decide you would like to help support The Refuge, donations can be made payable to: The Refuge at 1160 Texas Avenue, Bridge City, TX 77611.
Please be in prayer for us as we move forward in this ministry. We are very excited to see what God is going to do in the hearts of the High School and College age students in our area. It warms our hearts to think REVIVAL just may start here at home.
